Downtown Austin District Cooling Plant 3

Structural Engineering

The downtown District Cooling Plant #3 (DCP3) provides an additional 10,000 tons of cooling capacity for the downtown district using four 2,500-ton water-cooled centrifugal chillers and nine cooling tower cells. The 19,300 square-foot project made use of a small, infill parcel that was considered undevelopable for other uses, and created a municipal purpose that serves the public downtown. Tsen Engineering provided structural engineering services for the design, bid, and construction phases of this project. DCP3 Photos by Casey Dunn.
